CLUG 2.0 Project Showcase at TRA 2024 (Dublin 16th April 2024)
During the TRA 2024 event, hosted in Dublin, Ireland from April 15th to 18th, SNCF had the chance to unveil CLUG 2.0. This project sets out to demonstrate the technological readiness of an on-board secure localization system based on GNSS+EGNOS, employing a multi-sensor fusion architecture, thus enabling absolute safe train positioning for signalling within an ETCS framework.
The presentation of CLUG 2.0 occurred during the "Transport Safety & Sustainable Logistics" session of TRA 2024, serving as a concise introduction to the poster prepared for the event. Within this framework, Valentin BARREAU, SNCF's head of projects of Localisation, who also acts as the technical lead of the CLUG 2.0 project, stressed one of the primary objectives of the research paper: to assess how the specific features of EGNOS for Rail service can bolster the integrity performance of the CLUG 2.0 secure train localization solution.
Further details about the study are available on the poster. Additionally, the TRA conference will furnish links to the presented and accepted paper.
SNCF's involvement in TRA 2024 provided a platform not only to exhibit the cutting-edge technology of CLUG 2.0 but also to underscore its ongoing dedication to safety and innovation in railway transportation. In addition, the event provided an invaluable opportunity for feedback and consultation, highlighting the growing interest in this initiative in the European rail sector.
