PROJECT OBJECTIVES
As a continuation of the activity started by the project CLUG the main objective of CLUG 2.0 would be the definition of a system architecture which aims to complement the existing European Train Control System (ETCS) odometry system by using GNSS to enable absolute safe train positioning whilst also transforming today’s train localisation by demonstrating a GNSS based multi-sensor fusion architecture.
The CLUG 2.0 technical objectives which derive from this high-level objectives have been fixed based on the status of the work performed in CLUG the first project dedicated to demonstrating the feasibility of the multi-sensor approach for a safe localisation system for railway.
The table below summarizes main technical objectives and linked Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
No. | Technical Objective | Expected Result |
---|---|---|
EO1 | CLUG 2.0 will review, consolidate and complete the high-level user needs and system requirements for LOC-OB System including Start of Mission and Track Selectivity | Definition of the user needs, operational context, initial assumptions, system boundary and requirements including:
|
EO2 | CLUG 2.0 will consolidate the safe localisation system architecture and prototype further the functions of the CLUG LOC-OB | Based on the software prototyping made in CLUG and X2RAIL5, CLUG 2.0 will:
|
EO3 | CLUG 2.0 will consolidate by live demonstration the readiness of the CLUG LOC-OB multi-sensor fusion algorithms |
|
EO4 | CLUG 2.0 will perform a RAMS analysis on the consolidated functional architecture of the system |
